Moms need sick days too

I have the flu! YUCK! It's really hard to be sick when you have kids. M likes to keep busy, but mommy needs her rest. Instead of depending on the TV the entire day, we got a little creative. Here is her box...need I say more?  When the box finally has gotten old, we pull out some tot activities. This one kept M busy for almost an hour. I told her to organize the letters into the bowls by color but after she did that, she enjoyed mixing them up and then spelling with them. Of course, when I say spelling words they might look like this, "mkwekdig" hehe When I am not sick we will have to work more on that. I was just grateful for the nap time!

My husband does crafts too...well sort of!

My hubby realized I needed a place for my necklaces the day I brought him two that were very tangled together. So for Christmas he built this for me. He bought a bamboo silverware organizer and drilled hooks into it. It looks awesome, was an easy project, and I LOVE it! I think I might need another one soon though...haha My daughter wanted one too so we made a simpler necklace holder for her.  We just bought a key holder from the hardware store. It was only $7.

Make an angry bird!

I made these angry birds and pig for my husband's Christmas gift. My daughter has foam blocks that we used to build the towers. It's a great way to have a fun family night with the kids. Especially with a 3 year old - she loves setting the towers back up after they are knocked down!

Let kids have fun!

It's intimidating starting the very first post....but I have decided to find courage and just jump in!
So, hello! Welcome to our world of SAHM ideas to keep sane, to have fun, and to feel creative!

Part of the fun of being a mom is seeing what your kids can do. I love to have a clean house, but I love to let my daughter do crafts even more...thus making messes. So what if there is frosting all over my table and sprinkles on the ground. The memory that we shared making this will always be in my mind.


I also feel that the crafts I do now with my 3 year old are especially important since she must share me with her new baby sister. I know it's hard on M to not have all my attention all day long anymore. The moments I have during J's naps are becoming very special too. M talks to me more about her thoughts and feelings during these times. It is fascinating to see what a toddler thinks about the world.
